SASIENI Berkeley Club 756R

SASIENI Berkeley Club 756R

England, 1950-70s

A pleasant example of the pipe carvers art from Sasieni – one of the most aggressive and active competitors of Dunhill for many years. The family business worked successfully till 1979 – until the recession of demand in pipes forced to sell the business to new investors, and interest in Sasieni among collectors had gone down significantly. In our case it is the Berkeley Club pipe still from the “Alfred era” (made before 1979), a very pleasant finding both for collectors and just experienced & demanding smokers.

The pipe markings are “756R \ BERKELEY CLUB \ LONDON MADE”, “MADE IN \ ENGLAND” (a bit difficult to read). The length is 16.3 cm (6.42″), bowl’s height is 5.3 cm (2.09″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.0 cm (1.57″), internal diameter is 2.1 cm (0.83″). The depth is 4.3 cm (1.69″) and this pipe weights 56 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter.

England, 1950-70s Sasieni was perhaps the one of the most known family manufactories noninferior to Dunhill neither on quality, nor on fame.
