POUL WINSLOW Crown 300

POUL WINSLØW Crown 300

Denmark, 2020s

A fantastic catch from the last trip to Copenhagen: fresh, breathtaking and (of course:-)))) unsmoked Poul Winslow Crown 300 freehand pipe directly from the Danish Pipe Shop. Will stay in our own collection as warm remembrance about the country, people and cordial welcome in TDPS.

The pipe markings are “WINSLØW \ CROWN \ 300\ HANDMADE \ IN \ DENMARK”. The length is 14.8 cm (5.83″), bowl’s height is 6.0 cm (2.36″). External dimensions of the bowl are 6.4 x 5.1 cm (2.52 x 2.01″), internal diameter is 2.1 cm (0.83″). The depth is 4.2 cm (1.65″) and this pipe weights 92 gr. Briar, acrylic stem, 9 mm filter.

Denmark An extraordinary Danish work! As every proper Danish pipe it’s made of a good briar, shows nice grain and has skilfully designed freehand shape. But the most of all we’re absolutely amazed with its sense of equilibrium – the pipe can surely balance just on its heel (back side of its bottom). Some signs…

England, 1960s An unsmoked very high grade Charatan’s pipe from the “Second Lane era” (1965-76), the period of the brightest blossoming of this brand, delightful shapes and grains which eclipsed all others pipe makers including Dunhill. Every Charatan’s admirer knows the highest grade was the “Supreme”. Another one of the highest grades, “Selected” level was…

England, 1954 A very unusual unsmoked Hardcastle’s pipe from the period between 1946 and 1967. That was a really great time for this brand: the company belonged already completely to Dunhill, but keeped family management and production traditions. The bamboo shank makes this pipe absolutely attractive and absolutely rare and the shield with the engraved…

  • JOHN REDMAN Algerian Briar

England, 1930-50s This is the oldest (so far) John Redman pipe we have in our private collection. We’ve mentioned recently the issues with the briar supply which were experienced by English pipe makers since the beginning of the 1960s. This shortage caused by political situation in Algeria affected Dunhill (you may be interested to look…

  • Made in Denmark

Denmark We haven’t identified the maker of this pipe, but regardless that it’s a really impressive Danish pipe, made of good piece of briar, skillfully carved, shaped and drilled, with the remarkable distinct straight grain. Recommended!
