SAVINELLI Autograph

Italy

Autograph pipes make only 2% of the Savinelli production, but since 1980s they are the subject of a special pride of the company. The pipes are made essentially by hand; briar is sourced absolutely separately from the materials for a mass market. Every bowl is firstly shaped and only then drilled by experienced carvers. As a result pipe collectors from the entire world can enjoy both the great smoking qualities and fantastic design of these pipes. It’s really a work of art!

The Autograph pipes are graded (ascending) from 3,4… and till 8, 0, 00, 000. This pipe had almost invisible “3” which unfortunately wasn’t rescued. So we offer today an affordable creature of the great Italian artisans.

The pipe markings are “SAVINELLI \ AUTOGRAPH”. The length is 14.4 cm (5.67″), bowl’s height is 5.8 cm (2.28″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.3 cm (1.69″), internal diameter is 2.0 cm (0.79″). The depth is 4.1 cm (1.61″) and this pipe weights 76 gr. Briar, acrylic stem, no filter. ?The chamber has been protected with a break-in coat. The stem is newly made of the fresh piece of acryle so we can consider the pipe as a “partially unsmoked” :-).

England, 1970s According to pipedia, George W. Sims used to work for Charatan’s (that is clearly visible of some Sims pipes) and for Barling (that is also not excluded). England We have a suspicion that the pipe was born in 1979 when a carver saw the “Alien” movie for the first time. Of course, it’s a joke, but the pipe’s shape is extraterrestrial indeed. By the way, we have met a Sasieni one of the same shape recently.
