JOHN REDMAN Captain Fortune 58

England

John Redman brands were perhaps the most “londonish” – many of them were named in honour of London’s streets, squares and houses. And of course the Fortune street couldn’t be forgotten – it crosses the Whitecross Str, where the main building of the company was located for many years. Great canadian pipe from that times with amazing grain: it looks rather as a leopard skin than bird eyes – one of the Redman’s production features!

The pipe markings are “CAPTAIN FORTUNE \ LONDON MADE”, “58”, “MADE IN ENGLAND”. The length is 16.1 cm (6.34″), bowl’s height is 4.8 cm (1.89″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.5 cm (1.38″), internal diameter is 1.9 cm (0.75″). The depth is 4.1 cm (1.61″) and this pipe weights 36 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The stem is a bit patched near the button, you may see the trace under a bright light.
