JOBEY DANSK

Denmark

The origin of the Jobey brand is a kind of a mystery. The most probably the company was founded in the beginning of the XX century, but there is a contradictory opinion about a mother country of Jobey pipes. Most sources believe Jobey was an English founded company switched soon to production in USA. Some other enthusiasts found a saga story of Jobey brothers from Brooklyn. Regardless its origin the company changed a number of owners and producers in the course of time. In 1970s the majority of Jobey pipes were manufactured in St Claude, France. But at the same time a series of fabulous free hand pipes of a really Danish style were made in Denmark, most probably by Karl Erik Ottendahl – Jobey DANSK.

The pipe markings are “Jobey \ DANSK \ MADE IN DENMARK”. The length is 18.0 cm (7.09″), bowl’s height is 5.3 cm (2.09″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.8 cm (1.5″), internal diameter is 2.1 cm (0.83″). The depth is 3.3 cm (1.3″) and this pipe weights 39 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The chamber has been protected with a break-in coat.

Denmark Nobody knows where his investigations can bring. We looked recently for an information about a rare Danish manufactory and came across the description of the American patent No. US3750677 (1971). There is described a basically new (at least according to inventor’s believe) construction of a smoking pipe: it has to be made as a…
