A wonderful freehand pipe made by legendary Danish artisan Preben Holm in 1970s. Initially Ben Wade was an old good English family manufactory. Soon after the WWII the brand was acquired by Lane Ltd from USA, the producer of fantastic Charatan’s pipes at that time. The new Ben Wade era (“Danish Ben Wade”) started in 1970s when Hermann Lane and Preben Holm initiated series of amazing and sophisticated hand made freehand pipes.

The pipe markings are “Ben Wade \ GOLDEN WALNUT \ HAND MADE \ IN \ DENMARK”. The length is 16.0 cm (6.3″), bowl’s height is 6.1 cm (2.4″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.8 cm (1.89″), internal diameter is 2.3 cm (0.9″). The depth is 4.7 cm (1.85″) and this pipe weights 57 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The chamber has been protected with a break-in coat.

Denmark, 1970-80s A nicely made Danish freehand from Erik Nording. The pipe comes the most probably from the 1970-80 when his old grading system was applied (A to F and 1, 2, 3….). An exquisite middle size smooth freehand pipe with attractive distinct grain!
