Taylor made

Taylor Made

England, 1980s

Here we see the exact same stamp, in the same font, as on other early Bill Ashton-Taylor pipes, carved at the beginning of his solo career in the early 1980s. Interestingly, this pipe is adapted to accommodate a 6mm filter — a rather rare feature for Ashton-Taylor’s work. Perhaps it was made to order.

Pipe markings “Taylor Made”
Length 15.8 cm (6.22″)
Bowl Height 4.8 cm (1.89″)
Outside Diameter 3.7 cm (1.46″)
Chamber Diameter 2.0 cm (0.79″)
Chamber Depth 4.2 cm (1.65″)
Weight 44 gr.

Briar, vulcanite stem, 6 mm filter.

The pipe was accurately smoked, it has been thoroughly cleaned, polished, sanitized and now is ready for a new life.
