Pipe manufacturers used a number of technoligies and tricks to satisfy smoker’s requirements and give as much smoking confort as possible. One of the popular ideas in 1920-1950 was a special construction of the stem and the lips. Many people know and appreciate Duncan dental system which has been used also in pipes made by Orlik, Bewlay, Dunhill. Another solution was the “Comfort Grip”- a small barrier near to the bottom lip. It allows to hold the pipe in smoker’s teeth without additional efforts.

One of such pipes was made most probably in 1950-s in Chechoslovakia. Except the specific stem construction the pipe looks like traditional Czech “Bruyere Garantie”from that time. This pipe is marked “EASY GRIP”. The overall length is 13.2 cm, bowl’s hight is 3.8 cm. External and internal diameters of the bowl are 3.1 cm and 1.9 cm. The depth is 3.0 cm and this pipe weights 20 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The chamber has been protected with a break in paste. The button was slightly corrected, you may see the repair tracks under a bright light.
