  • W. Ø. LARSEN handmade

Denmark, 1970s The pipe was most probably made in 1970s. There were many legendary pipe carvers working for W.Ø. Larsen and it’s usually difficult to say who exactly made a specific pipe. In this case we can guess that our today’s pipe was made by Jess Chonowitch, you can compare with other his pipes and…

  • GBD Garland II 9552

England 1980-90s A very stylish GBD pipe made not such a long time ago – approximately in the 1980s. Nevertheless the original shape (named most frequently a “Calabash” or a “Bell”) is strongly reminescent of old good English calabash pipes. What an amazing continuity of traditions!

  • Westminster Junior

USA There was a variety of Westminster pipes produced on both sides of the Atlantic, but the stamping “Foreign made” tells it’s rather an American product, thus the list of possible manufacturers includes James B. Hall, Westminster NYC, L&H Sterns – we can’t say for sure. Just a compact, nice, moderately smoked and affordable American…

  • DR. GRABOW Starfire dublin

USA, 1950s An American classics from 1950s, the era of rock’n’roll, big beautiful cars with loud radio receivers (is the series name a hint on the Oldsmobile Starfire? :-) ) and blossoming of many American pipe brands. Nevertheless, this Dr. Grabow’s Starfire with its wire carved finish can’t be confused with any other pipe from…

  • Roma

Italy, 1930s The pipe from a recently obtained pre WWII collection. The “Roma” brand is usually associated with Savinelli, therefore we can’t exclude this is an early Savinelli product. In any case it’s a great pipe for its age, very moderately and accurately smoked, rich sandblast texture promises wonderful heat-resistance. Nice finding!
