VIGGO NIELSEN Hand-Finished

An exquisite pipe from Viggo Nielsen, the oldest Danish pipe maker. Viggo (1927-2009) began making pipes in 1945 and even in the age of retirement produced a few hunderds pipes a year. He’s also known as the Bari pipe factory founder and co-owner (1948-1978), creator of the highest grade “Fåborg Pibe” and unique “Jewels of Denmark” series and also as a father of two gifted Danish artisans – Kai and Jørgen Nielsen.

The pipe markings are “Viggo \ Nielsen \ HAND- \ FINISHED”, “HANMADE \ IN DENMARK”. The length is 15.0 cm (5.9″), bowl’s height is 4.7 cm (1.85″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.7 cm (1.85″), internal diameter is 2.2 cm (0.87″). The depth is 3.1 cm (1.22″) and this pipe weights 53 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The shank is a bit canted at the end, perhaps it was adjusted with the shank insert such the way.
