GBD Concorde 124

GBD Concorde 124

France

Today it’s difficult to say whether carvers from the French GBD factory were impressed by a design and image of the legendary supersonic liner, or aircraft designers were inspired by a stylish design and excellent qualities of GBD Concorde pipes. Anyway both the liner and the pipe are works of art and awesome examples of the excellent work and aesthetic taste. The pipe comes approximately from 1960-70s, it is of a very unusual fantastic finish and was moderately and very accurately smoked.

The pipe markings are “(GBD) \ CONCORDE”, “MADE IN FRANCE”, “124”. The length is 19.9 cm, bowl’s hight is 4.7 cm. External diameter of the bowl is  3.5 cm,  internal diameter is 2.0 cm. The depth is 4.1 cm and this pipe weights 36 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter.

England, 1950-70s The design of GBD pipes always corresponds to the name of models very successfully. England, 1950-70s A striking example of the desperate and wild “prehistoric” sandblast from GBD. This quite tall billiard was made before 1980, i.e.  before the merge of the company with Comoy’s under a roof of Cadogan’s. Therefore the pipe is interesting by both the period of birth and belonging to this cult series. And the…

England We suspect that GBD was a pipe maker with the best protection against an industrial espionage. Hundreds of shapes (changed every year), production on both sides of the Channel, lack of accurate dating of pipes could dement any James Bond who attempted to steal even a trifling secret.
