England 1950-70s
A very well made GBD pipe from the period before 1980 (in other words before the merge with Comoys under the Cadogans roof). Unique shape, great briar with amazing grain, transparent acrylic stem as a tribute to legendary perspex stems produced by GBD after the World War II – fantastic addition to every collection!
The pipe markings are “PRINCE OF WALES \ ENGLISH PIPE”, “A (GBD) PRODUCT \ MADE IN ENGLAND \ 8555”. The length is 14.3 cm (5.63″), bowl’s height is 4.7 cm (1.85″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.6 cm (1.42″), internal diameter is 2.0 cm (0.79″). The depth is 4.1 cm (1.61″) and this pipe weights 47 gr. Briar, acrylic stem, no filter. The stem was newly made of the fresh piece of acryle so the pipe may be considered as a “partially unsmoked”.
