USA, 1930s
This pipe from a pre WWII collection did require a bit more restoration efforts than usual, but the outcome is definitely worth attention. Amazing straight grain, well balanced extended lovat shape, nice briar. The stamping prompts it could be an Ehrlich product – creature of the David P. Ehrlich company which was known since 1868 and was producing good and practical pipes for almost one and half century.
The pipe markings are “SPECIAL GRAIN”. The length is 15.7 cm (6.18″), bowl’s height is 4.6 cm (1.81″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.5 cm (1.38″), internal diameter is 1.9 cm (0.75″). The depth is 3.9 cm (1.54″) and this pipe weights 37 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, aluminium air cooler. The shank had a couple neat cracks which were carefully fixed and clumped by a collar for the maximal reliability.
