England, 1960s
An amazing and extremely elegant Charatan’s Make pipe of their best period (“Lane era”), i.e. late 1960s – early 1970s, when the glory of Charatan’s eclipsed all competitors, including Dunhill. Pleasant middle size acorn shaped pipe. Sincerely recommended!
The pipe markings are “CHARATAN’S MAKE \ LONDON. ENGLAND \ SPECIAL”, “373X”. The length is 15.5 cm (6.1″), bowl’s height is 4.3 cm (1.69″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.2 cm (1.65″), internal diameter is 2.1 cm (0.83″). The depth is 3.5 cm (1.38″) and this pipe weights 41 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The chamber has been protected with a break-in coat. The stem is newly made of the fresh piece of vulcanite so we can consider the pipe as a “partially unsmoked” :-).
