CASTELLO Castello KKK

Italy, 1982-87

Carlo Scotti, founder (in 1943) of Castello trademark used to say “I run an artisan business and not a factory; my pipes are artistic pieces, the fruit of skilled hands, hearts and imaginations”. Over next years Scotti’s company shown how it’s possible to join the highest aesthetic and technical qualities and today Castelly is one of the mostly appreciated and collected Italian brands.

Our todays pipe was made approximately between 1982 (when the company changed from the use of the large upper case K grading to a smaller k within an oval) and 1987 (when Castello begins the number within a castle stamp for a year of production designation). Great finding!

The pipe markings are “CASTELLO \ “CASTELLO””, “(KKK)”, “MADE IN CANTU’ \ ITALY”, “CARLO SCOTTI”. The length is 14.0 cm (5.51″), bowl’s height is 4.6 cm (1.81″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.8 cm (1.5″), internal diameter is 2.0 cm (0.79″). The depth is 3.8 cm (1.5″) and this pipe weights 49 gr. Briar, acrylic stem, no filter.
