HARDCASTLE’S Jack O’London 172

England, 1930-40s

A very moderately smoked Hardcastle’s pipe of the very popular and collectable “Jack O’London” trade mark made yet in pre-Dunhill “family era” times. And very probably – before 1946 and possibly before the World War II. A middle size classical English biliard which can sit on the desk.

The pipe markings are “HARDCASTLE’S \ BRITISH MADE \ JACK O’LONDON”, “172”. The length is 14.5 cm (5.71″), bowl’s height is 4.5 cm (1.77″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.5 cm (1.38″), internal diameter is 1.9 cm (0.75″). The depth is 4.0 cm (1.57″) and this pipe weights 33 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, aluminium stinger. A small hairline crack in the shank was carefully glued and clamped with a collar for the maximum reliability.
