A very well preserved and lightly smoked pipe from the Hardcastle’s family period (before the complete acquisition by Dunhill in the 1946). However Dunhill is already invisibly present as the major shareholder (49% of stocks), but doesn’t influence technical and commercial issues of the company. The pipe was made most likely before the WWII, both the shape and such the uncompromising blast were very popular at that time.

The pipe markings are “ROYAL CROWN WINDSOR \ MADE IN ENGLAND”. The length is 14.0 cm (5.52″), bowl’s hight is 3.6 cm (1.42″). External and internal diameters of the bowl are 4.1 cm (1.61″) and 1.8 cm (0.7″). The depth is 2.7 cm (1.06″)and this pipe weights 32 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, aluminium stinger. The stinger should be placed in the position like on our picture before the full insertion of the stem.

It’s difficult to say now was the rim carved at Hardcastle’s factory or was it a later improvement but the outcome looks really charmingly!
