Savinelly is well known as the very creative manufacturer: the number of brands, subbrands and second lines comes to one hundred. Nevertheless this attractive refined finish is easily recognizable: yes, it’s the Roma lovat pipe, the pipe dedicated to the Eternal City.

The pipe marking is “ROMA”, “703 KS \ ITALY”. The length is 14.0 cm (5.51″), the bowl’s height is 5.0 cm (1.97″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.8 cm (1.5″), internal diameter is 2.2 cm (0.87″). The depth is 4.4 cm (1.65″) and this pipe weights 43 gr. Briar, acrylic stem, 9 mm filter. We had to cure a deep scratch on the stem. Now the trace is almost invisible, but the stem may look a bit assymetric for a meticulous expert.

    Italy, 1930s The pipe from a recently obtained pre WWII collection. The “Roma” brand is usually associated with Savinelli, therefore we can’t exclude this is an early Savinelli product. In any case it’s a great pipe for its age, very moderately and accurately smoked, rich sandblast texture promises wonderful heat-resistance. Nice finding!
