Roberto Ascorti (born 1958) is a pipe maker in the second generation. His father, Guiseppe Ascorti, from Cucciago, known to his friends as “Peppino” was the pipemaker at Castello and a co-founder of the brightest Caminetto brand. Nevertheless Roberto decided to start own separate project and since 1980 this project is well known and highly respected as “Ascorti”. Roberto controls personally all processes: briar selection and its quality control (weight, size, seasoning), design etc and works side by side with his artisans. All pipes are made by hand including the stems as well, though they also can use at some steps small machines invented by Guiseppe Ascorti many years ago.
The pipe marking is “Ascorti”, “HAND MADE \ ITALY”. The length is 14.4 cm (5.67″), bowl’s height is 6.0 cm (2.36″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.8 cm (1.5″), internal diameter is 2.3 cm (0.9″). The depth is 5.1 cm (2.01″) and this pipe weights 60 gr. Briar, acrylic stem, no filter.
