It’s unlikely we’ll tell you a long story about this pipe, other than to say that it’s a solid and attractive piece crafted by the artisans of one of France’s leading pipe-making workshops. Butz-Choquin currently uses the name Toulouse quite frequently, though their shape number 451 is more or less a classic bent, while a similar billiard pipe with a square bowl, if it appears in catalogues at all, is listed under completely different numbers. Well, never mind: Toulouse is a wonderful city with a glorious history, France is one of the most respected pipe-making nations in the world, and our nice pipe today will serve its new owner faithfully for a long time to come.

Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. We had to fix several more and less noticeable scratches and dents on the bowl. The previous owner cleaned the pipe with excessive enthusiasm, so we had to slightly reinforce the chamber with a heatproof mixture and activated charcoal, and additionally test the bowl for heat resistance.
The pipe has been thoroughly cleaned, polished, sanitised, and is now ready for a new life.

Radica, bocchino in ebanite, senza filtro. Abbiamo dovuto eliminare alcuni graffi e ammaccature più o meno evidenti sulla testa. Il precedente proprietario aveva pulito la pipa con eccessivo zelo, per cui abbiamo dovuto rinforzare leggermente il fornello con una miscela refrattaria e carbone attivo, oltre a verificare la resistenza al calore della testa.
La pipa è stata accuratamente pulita, lucidata, sanitizzata ed è ora pronta per una nuova vita.
