Mario Grandi is not a real person. Mario Grandi is a brand name, or, to be more exact, a sub brand name related to Mastro Beraldi. At the same time Mastro Beraldi is not a real person either. The real name of a real person (and the very hardworking pipe carer!) who stands behind all those names is Aldo Pierluigi. He started carving pipes in the 1970s, all pipes are made from the best Italian briar, all bowls are carved and finished by hand, no templates. Most of the modern pipes from Aldo are marked “Mastro Beraldi”, pipes with Per Imei Amici (“for my friends”) nomenclature are made for friends and the best customers.

Description

The pipe is really in great condition, except the very small split between the shank and mouthpiece there’s nothing to carp to. The pipe markings are “Mario Grandi \ Fatta in Italia”. The length is 14.4 cm (5.67″) and the bowl’s height is 4.6 cm (1.81″). External diameter of the bowl is 5.9 cm (2.32″), internal diameter is 1.9 cm (0.75″). The depth is 3.5 cm (1.38″) and this pipe weighs 90 gr. Briar, acrylic stem, no filter.
