Straight Grain Lovat

Straight Grain Lovat

USA

A quite interesting sample of a some kind of a noname high grade. The pipe was born in the 1980s in the USA. It’s really American – both by the country of acquisition and by the style of carving. The idea is simple and functional; it seems the shape is rather trivial and tested. Nevertheless when this idea is applied to a very good block of briar –  it turns into such an amazing huge lovat!

The pipe doesn’t have markings. The lenghts is 16.5 cm, bowl’s hight is 5.0 cm. External and internal diameters of this bowl are 3.5 cm and 2.5 cm. The depth is 4.1 cm and this pipe weights 35 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter.

USA, unsmoked The origin of this pipe isn’t very much clear. Some experts mention Excelsior pipes made in USA and England, but it look rather like an Italian (or Italian American) – nice briar, rich rustication, tasty combination of the “raw” unstained finish (a little bit polished) and bright acrylic shank extension plus stem.
