PETERSON'S Dublin 264

PETERSON’S Dublin 264

Ireland, 2006

This amazing Peterson’s canadian shaped pipe with the silver cap is really a wonderful artisan’s tribute to old ad everlasting traditional Petersons.

“Each pipe in this range is distinguished by its fill-free finish, either smooth or sandblasted, and expert metal fitments, shaped and applied by the hands of our most experienced craftsman. Our silversmiths are among the most talented in the world, having undergone traditional five-to-eight-year apprenticeships under a senior craftsman; each smith has engineered his own mandrel, meaning that every metal fitment is imprinted with the subtle, personal style of the one who machined it” (c) Peterson site.

The pipe marking is “PETERSON’S \ DUBLIN”, “264”. The length is 15.2 cm (5.98″), bowl’s height is 4.5 cm (1.77″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.4 cm (1.34″), internal diameter is 1.9 cm (0.75″). The depth is 3.9 cm (1.54″) and this pipe weights 38 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter.

England, 1980s Here we see the exact same stamp, in the same font, as on other early Bill Ashton-Taylor pipes, carved at the beginning of his solo career in the early 1980s. Interestingly, this pipe is adapted to accommodate a 6mm filter — a rather rare feature for Ashton-Taylor’s work. Perhaps it was made to…
