Czech Republic, 1990-2000s
A middle grade pipe from the very interesting and perhaps the most famous modern Czech artisan Oldrich Jirsa (born in 1962). A really good piece of briar, no excessive staining (if any), stylish interpretation of the billiard shape, handsome use of the acrylic insert on the stem – a really nice product! The pipe has been lightly to moderately smoked, there’s still visible a trace of the bowl coat in the chamber. The air hole in the chamber is a little bit improperly centered , but not as much as to prevent from comfortable smoking: the chamber walls are quite thick.
The pipe markings are “JIRSA \ (**)”. The length is 15.1 cm (5.94″), bowl’s height is 4.4 cm (1.73″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.2 cm (1.65″), internal diameter is 2.0 cm (0.79″). The depth is 3.7 cm (1.46″) and this pipe weights 45 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter.
