NØRDING hunter pipe 1999

Denmark, 1999

Erik Nording is not only a great pipe maker (as well as the production manager and pipe seller of course :-)) but also a very enthusiastic hunter. Therefore every year since 1995 he produces a pipe inspired by a wild animal under the common name “Hunter pipes”. With help of Danish artist Mogens Andersen Nording created already pipes dedicated to Hare, Turkey, Bison, even a Crocodile. And of course, one of the first pipes, of the year 1999, was inspired by a quail.

The pipe markings are “HANDMADE \ BY \ ERIK NØRDING”, “1999”. The length is 13.0 cm, bowl’s hight is 4.0 cm. External dimensions of the bowl are 4.8 x 4.3 cm,  internal diameter is 2.0 cm. The depth is 3.1 cm and this pipe weights 47 gr. Briar, acrylic stem, no filter. The chamber has been protected with a break-in coat.

Denmark, 1970-80s A nicely made Danish freehad from Erik Nording. The pipe comes the most probably from the 1970-80 when his old gradings system was applied (A to F and 1, 2, 3….). An absolutely fine sandblasted ring grain covers both the bowl and the shank!

  1. One of my favorite Nording Hunter shapes. A few years ago I won 2 of these “quails”, unsmoked, in their original tube packaging, for $30 on eBay. A great smoker, one of them is still in its tube.
