JOHN REDMAN Redonian De Luxe (oriental design)

England

A unique upper grade pipe from the John Redman pipe factory in London. The finish is well known today for Ian Walker’s incredibly beautiful “Northern Briars Oriental” pipes. But as we can see the idea is much older and it was implemented at least a few decades before.

The pipe markings are “REDONIAN \ DE LUXE \ LONDON MADE”, “SPECIAL SELECT \ 133”. The length is 14.8 cm (5.83″), and the bowl’s height is 4.9 cm (1.93″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.3 cm (1.69″), internal diameter is 2.2 cm (0.87″). The depth is 3.6 cm (1.42″) and this pipe weighs 66 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The pipe was moderately smoked and generally well preserved. The stem is newly made of the fresh piece of vulcanite so we can consider the pipe as a “partially unsmoked” :-).
