JOHN REDMAN Canberra 115

England

A nice lightweight and compact “tomato” billiard made on the the English John Redman factory in London in the middle of the XX century. Canberra line was positioned as an upper middle grade, it contained both convincing and well styled classical shapes and freehands and fancy creatures. The pipes were popular among smokers as good and reliable smoking devices for an affordable price.

The pipe markings are “CANBERRA \ LONDON MADE”, “115 \ MADE IN ENGLAND. The length is 13.7 cm (5.39″), bowl’s height is 3.2 cm (1.26″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.1 cm (1.61″), internal diameter is 1.9 cm (0.75″). The depth is 2.6 cm (1.02”) and this pipe weights 29 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The chamber has been protected with a break-in coat. The stem looks a bit assymetric, but it’s quite a usual situation for middle range pipes and the air hole is well accessible and visible, thus everything is fine in terms of engineering.
