GBD Granitan 254

GBD Granitan 254

England, 1950-70s

A very stylish example of a creative approach and a bright imagination of carvers from the English GBD factory. The company was well known first of all as one of the oldest, most respected and one of the most prolific on model ranges, shapes and subbrands. But, as we can see, GBD artisans were very inventive also in questions of the finishing processing: sandblast with the subsequent buffing and polishing + the contrast staining create just a fantastic effect!

The pipe markings are “(GBD) \ GRANITAN”, “LONDON ENGLAND \ 254”. The length is 14.5 cm, bowl’s hight is 4.2 cm. External diameter of the bowl is  3.2 cm,  internal diameter is 1.8 cm. The depth is 3.6 cm and this pipe weights 23 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The chamber has been protected with a break-in coat.

  • GBD (Flame Grain) Reject

England A rare, amazing and really lightly smoked example of GBD pipes art before the merge with Comoy’s. It’s difficult to say why the pipe was marked as a “Reject” – except a small darkening on the chamber’s bottom apparently there’s nothing.
