England, 1960-70s
Fribourg & Treyer was perhaps the most reputable English tobacconist. “While most collectors are familiar with the “Royal Appointment” accorded certain well-established businesses in England (most commonly seen on Dunhill packaging) FRIBOURG & TREYER’s not only held an identical appointment by the King of England, but they also had a similar “Royal Appointment” by the King of Belgium!” (с) pipedia.org. Obviously, the status of the oldest company mattered (F&T was founded in 1720) as well as the list of contractors, which produced pipes for F&T (GBD, BBB and Barling were undoubtedly among the most respected brands). Of course, this pipe is not from the XXVIII century; it was born rather in 1960-70s, before the closing of the F&T pipe shop. A rare “diplomat” shaped pipe from the highly respected English manufacturer!
