Emperor Standard 151

USA, 1940-50s

A product of the Empire Briar Pipe Company Inc. of New York, most probably from the 1940-50s. The pipe did require some more attention than just a clean up . The stummel had a few dings which were carefully and reliably patched, the right side of the shank seems to be not ideally straight (oversanded?). The chamber looks a bit off center of the bowl (see the picture from the top). Anyway that’s a good and affordable American pipe from the middle of the XX century.

The pipe markings are “EMPEROR \ IMPORTED BRIAR”, “STANDARD”, “151”. The length is 14.2 cm (5.59″), bowl’s height is 4.4 cm (1.73″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.5 cm (1.38″), internal diameter is 1.9 cm (0.75″). The depth is 3.2 cm (1.26″) and this pipe weights 32 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, aluminium air cooler (it seems to be not removable, .but its construction allows comfortable cleaning).

USA, 1930s An Americam pipe from a pre WWII pipe collection. It reminds some Ehrlich pipes, but the stamping font is a bit different. Despite the respectable age, it’s still a good device to test new tobacco or smoke while you’re hunting, fishing, walking – whatever you prefer to do.
