DUNHILL Bruyere ODA N806

DUNHILL Bruyere ODA N806

England, 1972

The first Dunhill OD pipes (where OD stands for “Own Design”) were created long time ago in 1920s and they definitely weren’t a regular production series examples, rather some rare and therefore highly collectable quaint and oversized creatures. After the World War II Dunhill began expansion to new markets (first of all to the USA) and resurrected OD stamping (ODA and ODB) for the semi-giant and fancy pipes (similarly to Barling with their EXLs and EXEXLs). This step towards consumers was really a lucky move – Dunhill’s “Own Design” Roots, Bruyeres and Shell Briars are today still highly respected an collected around the whole pipe smoking World!

The pipe markings are “DUNHILL \ BRUYERE”, ODA \ N806 \ F/T”, “MADE IN \ ENGLAND 12”. The length is 16.2 cm (6.34″), bowl’s height is 5.5 cm (2.16″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.5 cm (1.77″), internal diameter is 2.2 cm (0.87″). The depth is 4.5 cm (1.77″) and this pipe weights 61 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter.
