DUNCAN Bent Patent

DUNCAN Bent Patent

England, 1950s

A witness of the highest glory of British pipe making! Duncan briars was founded in 1899 and became world famous not only for stable high quality and innovations (such as the dental stems), but also due to close connections with other brands and companies. George Walker from Duncan founded Northern briars, Peter Wilson made a miracle of Ben Wade resurrection. This pipe belongs to the patent era (early 1950’s the latest); it was smoked just a few times. A very nice finding!

The pipe markings are “Duncan \ BENT \ MADE IN ENGLAND \ PAT.NO382443”. The length is 12.6 cm (4.96″), bowl’s height is 3.8 cm (1.5″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.5 cm (1.38″), internal diameter is 1.9 cm (0.75″). The depth is 3.0 cm (1.18″) and this pipe weights 22 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The stem is newly made of the fresh piece of vulcanite so we can consider the pipe as a “partially unsmoked” :-).
