England, 1960s
An amazing Charatan’s Make pipe of the best period (“Lane era”), i.e. late 1960s – early 1970s when the glory of Charatan’s eclipsed all competitors, including Dunhill. The pipe was smoked, perhaps, once or twice, the chamber looks still fresh and clean!
The pipe markings are “CHARATAN’S MAKE \ LONDON ENGLAND \ PERFECTION” “322DC”. The length is 14.8 cm (5.83″), bowl’s height is 4.2 cm (1.65″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.4 cm (1.73″), internal diameter is 2.0 cm (0.79″). The depth is 3.4 cm (1.34″) and this pipe weights 53 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The stem is newly made from the fresh piece of vulcanite, so we can consider the pipe as a “partially unsmoked” :-).
