CHARATAN'S MAKE Special

CHARATAN’S MAKE Special 3

England, 1960s

A fantastic and incredibly rare Charatan’s Make pipe of their best period (“Lane era”), i.e. late 1960s – early 1970s, when the glory of Charatan’s eclipsed all competitors, including Dunhill. Magnificent full bent (also known as “Hungarian” shape or Oom Paul)!

The pipe markings are “CHARATAN’S MAKE \ LONDON. ENGLAND \ SPECIAL”, “3”. The length is 8.5 cm (3.35″), bowl’s height is 5.6 cm (2.2″). External diameter of the bowl is 3.4 cm (1.34″), internal diameter is 1.9 cm (0.75″). The depth is 4.7 cm (1.85″) and this pipe weights 54 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The chamber has been protected with a break-in coat. The stem is newly made of the fresh piece of vulcanite so we can consider the pipe as a “partially unsmoked” :-).

Unknown The pipe is really made of a fine briar, the grain is fantastic, almost 360 straight grain. The full bent shape is amazing, highly respected and collectable. Unfortunately its owner was not always careful with the pipe, we had to fix a few scratches on the bowl.
