England, 1960-70s
The Charatan’s pipe of a quite rare series: the Perfection grade was introduced during the “second Lane era”, 1965-1976 and followed the highly popular and respected Special grade, though production of Perfection pipes seemed to be rather occasional than regular. The grain is contrast and clear, the shape is traditional for Lane era Charatan’s, but not frequently used by other manufacturers: a very intersting interpretation of the pot shape with the large bowl and the elegant accurate stem. And even with such capasious bowl the pipe is lightweight enough: only 43 gramms! And the last, but not least: the pipe is still unsmoked! Absolutely sincerely recommended!
The pipe markings are “CHARATAN’S MAKE \ LONDON. ENGLAND \ PERFECTION”, “4148DC”. The length is 14.3 cm (5.63″), bowl’s height is 4.0 cm (1.57″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.4 cm (1.73″), internal diameter is 2.5 cm (0.98″). The depth is 3.3 cm (1.3″) and this pipe weights 43 gr. Briar, vulcanite stem, no filter. The pipe comes with the original pouch.
