BREBBIA Ninja Noce 8311

Italy

A really great Italian pipe! We don’t have perhaps to repeat a well known story how Achille Savinelli and Enea Buzzi founded the Savinelli company in 1947 and how in 1953 theirs ways have parted: while Achille (responcible for marketing) stayed with Savinelli, Enea (responcible for manufacturing) founded his own brand named in honour of the home town, Brebbia (or better the M.P.B. (Manifattura Pipe Brebbia)).

Obviously the difference between these two greatest Italian brands reflects difference of the marketing oriented and production oriented management. Savinelli is extremely successful on each market and it’s undoubtedly one of the best known Italian names in the World. Brebbia is perhaps a bit less advertized but their devotion to the quality is highly respected by many and many pipe smokers around the Globe.

The pipe markings are “brebbia”, “NINJA \ NOCE”, “8311 \ ITALY”. The length is 14.3 cm (5.63″), bowl’s height is 5.2 cm (2.05″). External diameter of the bowl is 4.1 cm (1.61″), internal diameter is 2.0 cm (0.79″). The depth is 4.2 cm (1.65″) and this pipe weights 58 gr. Briar, acrylic stem, 9 mm filter. The pipe comes with the original box and bag.

England, 1960s A great example of the Charatan’s production in 1970-s at Prescott Str. factory! The pipe looks really like a work of art: slightly asymmetric panelled bowl is skilfully combined with an almost the stright grain of briar. It sits in hand very warmly, reliably and trustfully indeed like many free hands can’t sit. Thus no need…

Italy, 2007-2015 “Savinelli started in 2007 a series dedicated to Leonardo Da Vinci. For nine years Savinelli has designed an exclusive model, related it to a drawing made by the Italian genius. Each pipe was produced in limited number with the reproduction of the draw in silver, applied to the shank”. These pipes “… are…

Ireland Everyone knows that Sherlock Holmes used to smoke a Peterson pipe. And of course everyone knows that Peterson is one of the most popular and traditional Irish brands. It may sound strange but the Peterson (Kapp & Peterson!) company was founded by two German immigrants at the end of XIX century. And mister Peterson…

  • GBD International 1626

England We suspect that GBD was a pipe maker with the best protection against an industrial espionage. Hundreds of shapes (changed every year), production on both sides of the Channel, lack of accurate dating of pipes could dement any James Bond who attempted to steal even a trifling secret.
